Students from Taiyuan Institute of Technology Conduct Internship at the School of Mechanical Engineering and Transportation, MUST

From May 15 to 20, 2025, a delegation of four students and one professor from the Taiyuan Institute of Technology (TIT), People’s Republic of China, is participating in a short-term professional internship program organized by the School of Mechanical Engineering and Transportation (SMET) at the Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST) and the Belt and Road International Development Academy (BRI).

The internship program is coordinated by the Department of Manufacturing Engineering at SMET, where students are engaged in comprehensive theoretical and practical training in CAD/CAM technologies, mechanical drawing, and component manufacturing. The practical sessions are being held in the CNC Machine Laboratory, offering students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience using advanced manufacturing equipment in a modern industrial environment, promoting mutual learning and professional skill development.

The participating students are in their final year of study in majors such as Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation, Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering, Intelligent Automotive Engineering, and Materials Science. Professor Wang Jianghui, who is leading the group, highlighted the similarities in teaching methods, training levels, and equipment used in CAD/CAM/CAE programs between the two institutions. He noted that this alignment provides a strong foundation for future collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Professor Wang also emphasized that students are currently training on DMG MORI CNC machines, which are widely used in global industrial production. This provides them with invaluable experience working with internationally recognized and cutting-edge manufacturing technologies.

This internship marks the first step in the student exchange collaboration between the two institutions. As a continuation of this partnership, third-year students from the Department of Manufacturing Engineering at SMET are scheduled to participate in a short-term internship program at the Taiyuan Institute of Technology.

This academic cooperation plays a significant role in enhancing the professional competencies of students in mechanical engineering and manufacturing fields while providing valuable practical experience and paving the way for joint training and research initiatives.
